Open the POSITION tab and tap 📡 LOCATE ME. OFFGRID locates you using WiFi networks and cell towers only — no GPS. This means GPS jamming and spoofing have zero effect.
Once located, a green POS marker appears on the map and the badge top-right switches from NFIX to WiFi or CELL.
All calculations (compass, dead reckoning, trail distance, bearing) work fully offline. Only map tiles and road routing require internet.
NFIX — No position fix yet
SCAN — Actively scanning for location
WiFi — Located via WiFi network positioning (accuracy <100 m)
CELL — Located via cell tower triangulation (accuracy >100 m)
PIN — Manual position set — live tracking is paused
DR — Dead Reckoning estimate is the active position
CENTRE ⊕ — Re-centres the map on your position and opens the Position tab. Auto-follow resumes (map was not following after you panned manually).
SET POS 📍 — Opens the Manual Pin tab with pin mode already active. Pan the map to place your position.
SET DEST 🎯 — First tap: activates blue destination crosshair and opens Navigate tab. Pan the map to your destination. Second tap (CONFIRM): locks the destination, draws the route line.
TRAIL 🔴 — Starts trail recording and opens the Trail tab. Label changes to RECORDING while active. Tap again to stop.
CACHE AREA 💾 — Pre-downloads all map tiles for the current visible area at zoom levels 13–16 for offline use.
📡 LOCATE ME — Starts live WiFi/cell tracking. If a manual PIN is set, you will be asked to confirm before it is replaced.
💾 SAVE POS — Saves the current position with a name (up to 20 saved positions, stored on device).
📍 SET MANUAL POSITION — Shortcut to open the Manual Pin tab.
↩ RESET — Clears the current position fix entirely (PIN or live). Use this before tapping LOCATE ME if tracking seems stuck.
Tap USE on a saved position to load it as your current fix. Tap × to delete it.
Tap 📍 ACTIVATE PIN MODE (or the SET POS map button) — an amber crosshair appears at the screen centre.
Pan the map area (upper portion of screen) to move the crosshair over your target location. Coordinates update live as you pan.
Tap 📌 SNAP TO MAP CENTRE to manually capture the current map centre into the coordinate fields — useful if live update is lagging.
Tap SET AS POSITION to apply the coordinates as your current fix. Live tracking is paused (badge shows PIN).
Tap 💾 SAVE PIN AS NAMED POSITION to save the pin coordinates directly without switching tabs.
To resume live tracking after setting a pin, tap 📡 LOCATE ME in the Position tab and confirm the prompt.
Search a place name using the 🔍 box — results come from OpenStreetMap. Tap a result to fill in the destination coordinates.
Or enter Dest Lat/Lng directly and tap SET DESTINATION.
Under NAVIGATE TO SAVED POSITION, tap GO next to any saved position to instantly set it as your destination and draw the route.
Toggle WALKING / DRIVING to switch the route profile. Road distance is fetched from OSRM. When offline, only straight-line distance is shown.
The route line on the map automatically redraws each time your position updates from LOCATE ME.
📤 SHARE MY POSITION AS LINK — Generates a URL with your coordinates. Anyone who opens it will have your position set as their destination automatically.
Tap START COMPASS — on iOS you will be asked for motion permission. On Android it starts immediately.
The needle and the purple HDG badge in the header show your real-time magnetic heading.
→ DR — When active, pipes the live compass heading directly into the Dead Reckoning heading field.
Tap START RECORDING (or the 🔴 map button) to record your path. Waypoints log automatically as your position updates.
Select a recording interval — HIGH (5s) records more detail but uses more battery. ULTRA ECO (5m) is best for long expeditions.
Tap 🔋 MINIMAL VIEW while recording to enter a battery-saver screen showing only essential info with no map rendering.
💾 SAVE TRAIL — Saves the trail to device storage (up to 10 trails).
📥 EXPORT GPX — Downloads a standard GPX 1.1 file compatible with Google Maps, Garmin, Strava, etc.
Tap LOAD on a saved trail to restore it on the map and fit the view to it.
Estimates where you will be after travelling a set heading, speed, and time — useful when you have no live signal.
Set Heading (use the → DR button on the Compass tab to fill this automatically), Speed, and Time. Choose a starting point from: last fix, most recent saved position, or manual pin.
Tap CALCULATE — a blue DR marker and uncertainty circle are plotted on the map. Accuracy degrades quickly with distance — treat as a short-term estimate only.
Map tiles cache automatically as you browse — revisited areas are available offline. Use the CACHE AREA button to pre-download tiles for a specific area. All bearing, distance, trail, compass, and dead reckoning calculations work with no internet. Road routing and place search require internet and fail gracefully with a status message.
iOS: Tap Share → Add to Home Screen.
Android: Tap browser menu → Add to Home Screen or Install App.
• The map stops auto-following after you pan manually. Tap ⊕ to re-enable follow.
• Saving position from Manual Pin tab does not require switching tabs — use the 💾 button there.
• Saved positions appear in the Navigate tab — tap GO to route to any of them instantly.
• If LOCATE ME does not update after setting a manual pin, tap ↩ RESET first then LOCATE ME.
• Pan the upper map area (not the bottom panel) when using pin or destination crosshair modes.
• Share links work across all devices and platforms — useful for passing coordinates to others.
